Grammar Summer SWAG
What is SWAG?
The Summer Writing Arithmetic and Grammar Program is a combination of reading, writing, and math activities that you do with your child(ren) over the summer. When you return this completed form (one for each child), your child receives a grade based upon the rubric provided.
Why SWAG?
Studies have shown that home-based summer reading and math programs reduce student regression in math knowledge and skills and reading ability. This loss is further mitigated with parental involvement, and even more when that involvement occurs daily. SWAG provides your child with a strong review of the previous year’s skills while helping them prepare for the year to come. For grades 1 thru 5, it includes using BJU Press’ Vacation Station for Grammar, Math, and Writing, and for all grades, it includes a selection of books provided by the teacher to help your student keep their reading skills honed and their writing and creative skills, sharpened. SWAG provides parents with the tools needed to help their child(ren) avoid the “summer slump” while providing flexibility for families that use the summers for family time and educational opportunities beyond what occurs in the classroom.
